Morgan’s practice focuses on employment and labor issues, business disputes, insurance defense, litigation and appeals. Morgan is a fourth generation El Pasoan, and has practiced law in El Paso since 1979. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso and Texas Tech School of Law. Morgan is a past Chair and served on the Board of the Texas Bar College from 2007 to 2016. The Texas Bar College is an organization created by the Supreme Court of Texas to enhance professionalism among Texas attorneys through continuing legal education.

Morgan is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest possible peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards. He has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in civil appellate law since 1993. Morgan has been included on the Texas Super Lawyers® list in the area of civil appellate law consistently since 2008. Super Lawyers is a Thomson Reuters business. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and previously served on the Board of the El Paso Bar Association.

Morgan has served as the Course Director for Texas Bar continuing legal education courses, including Texas Bar College Summer School in Galveston, Texas and Winning Before Trial in Houston, Texas. Morgan’s background combining litigation and appeals provides the necessary foundation if trial or appeal is necessary, with an objective of winning before trial or a timely favorable resolution.

Growing up in El Paso, and working while a student at the University of Texas at El Paso, Morgan always appreciated El Paso and embraced its uniqueness and diversity. These experiences helped shape his professional career, exposing him to El Pasoans from all walks of life. He has nearly 45 years of legal experience in El Paso.

Morgan was a law clerk for the El Paso Eighth Court of Appeals before joining an established El Paso law firm. He later co-founded Peticolas, Broaddus & Shapleigh, and subsequently was a sole practitioner for over ten years. Morgan joined Gordon Davis Johnson & Shane P.C. in 2002.
